I unfortunately find myself agreeing with SWB on the issue of "relationship hoarders," there are some people who view the world as a competition and it may well be that as we have all been told that Hollywood works exactly as the gentleman concerned assumed it would. Tit for tat, now she owes him one after being introduced to you she doesn't.

I love optimism. I just don't think it's always warrented.

To the author - Most of the stuff in this article is pretty right on. I do think that there is another way to view David's view of relationships. Perhaps he was secretly not-so-sure of your abilities to live up to the favor you were asking of him. If he introduced you, and you screwed up royally, then his reputation is toast with that lady, and all the people with whom she is networked. This stuff works negatively, as well as positively. So, the bottom line is: since you got the name of the lady then make your own connection with her, and then you can be generous. Just don't cast your pearls before swine. Networking has its pitfalls, and you just fell in one.
