Great article. Good Advice!!

Thanks so much for the tips! I'm about to go to an interview and this gave me a good idea of what to be prepared for.

Nice informatin to review while searching for a new job.

I do agree there were so many typos. My main concern is " Team Player" I have worked on a job as a team player and all it got me was burned, I was very nice to patient greeted them with a smile while my other co worker had attitude, a smart mouth, looks at you like you are crazy and the boss would never do anything about it even when the patients would complain about it . So when I had the chance to talk to my boss about it all I saw was your doing a good job keep up the good work , thats what they told her so I had enough. I work hard being nice keeping patient happy never had a complaint all the years I have been there . Wheres my good job and keep up the good work. Team Player sike.

I would not necessarily agree with number 3. There's no such thing as being yourself on an interview or at work, for that matter, unless that self is exactly who an employer wants you to be. I've lost jobs after being told to open up and express what I have to say about things because they did not exactly coincide with what my boss had in mind to do. I would prefer to live in a world where it was unnecessary to lie about our thoughts, ideals or experiences. However, the lying game happens on both sides of the career table. Companies do it all the time by telling us that they value diversity, teamwork and empowerment when all they really want to do is work you to death for as little reward as possible. Two wrongs don't necessarily make a right. But, the "right" answer however you arrive at it will get you hired. I also disagree with the bit about the Thank you letter. I always send thank you's immediately after an interview. In interviews that were a success the offer has come later that day prior to the thank you. But in interviews that were "iffy" I have never had a prospective employer contact me again after extending that courtesy. You should probably still do it but if they haven't already decided to hire you it will have no effect.

Wow. How I learn new things everyday!!! Never thought these things mattered that much??? People are really " picky"!!! I work hard and am really dedicated. But, you have opened my eyes to the real aspect of job-hunting, Appearances. Though decieving, makes a foot in the door. Amazing. How shallow have we become??? I have never had a boss tell me that I am not qualified because of my mistakes. Even professionals make mistakes!!! That's called EDUCATION!!! We learn from them.
