Hospitals aren't the only places to find great nursing jobs. I work as a visit nurse for a company that provides care to hospice patients. I visit patients in their home, nursing homes and sometimes hospitals. The pay is great and I have found it to be very rewarding. Many cities have hospice or palliative care organizations that are looking for good LPNs and RNs ( social workers and CNA's too.)

Hi everyone, this is actually a comment for all the LPNs or RNs, I believe everybody that has this type of certification or degree is a hero. I also know that now a days if you are one or the other there are tons of jobs out there for you guys. I might be wrong, but every time I look at websites as I am a job seeker my self I see hundreds of openings for LPNs or RNs. Also I use to live in Florida and if you are looking for a job in health care in Gainesville Florida, well the VA hospital is a real good one to check into. Also any other doctor's office or clinic or small hospital related to the University of Florida are real good sources to check into, as I know they have great benefits and possibilities for growth in your profession. I was surprised to read all these comments. Felt I was the only one having these feelings about some of the nations hospitals. I got my nursing degree in Md, but never seem to land a job. I have relocated twice to Georgia, and back. I am looking for a place to relocate to again. Can someone help me find a good location. May be I should look into the hospital in charlestown,Sc. There is something definitely wrong with our healthcare system.

I had a double internship at Wayne Memorial Hospital. I interviewed the director of Laboratory and she was great. I loved her and her staff was very friendly. In addition, there just so happens to be a shortage of Med Techs in our area. The location is Goldsboro, NC. The location is great and it is only 30-45 minutes away from Pitt County Memorial Hospital, UNC Chapel Hill (Tarheels), Duke, Triangle Research Park and WakeMed to name a few.

do not ever work for dell hospital in austin ,tx i took actually abuse for over a year if you are not in certain crowd you will never belong, i have worked in surgery for 20 plus years, i have never been treated so bad any where as i was there. don't go!!! you will regret it . They do not like there employees at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone, It has been very hard to find a job. I was laid off at St. Vincent's hospital in Nov. of 2008 in Jacksonville, Florida, and I think every year they tend to so call rearrange positions , which really means lay offs every year. I've also had to relocate to Johnson City, TN with a job offered to me at Indian Path Medical Center in KIngnsport TN. Please please do not apply there if you are a Medical tech. or Med. Lab Technician there is a high employee turnover and if the management doesn't like you, then your out of there. I started with another Med . tech and we both now don't work there anymore. Also don't count on the manager from the microbiology department. You will not find any pleasure dealering with that manager.
Now I am trying to relocate to NC, does anyone know of a good place to work there as a Med. Tech or hospital where people are down to earth?.

Its been very hard for me to find a job in the field that I have worked for over 31 years. Its one feild I love too.
I have applied for many jobs since I was laid off in August 2008 of this year.
The Hospitals are going away from hiring US citizens; at some time anyway.
Will keep trying to be hired in the Environmental Service/Housekeeping field because I love this kind of work.
I applied for several jobs in the Methodist Hospital System in Dallas Texas and because I do not speak spanish they would not even offer me any job.

henry ford hospital detroit Michigan Do not work there. Save yourself a lot of grief.
The employees are terminated before they reach 5 years so they will not be vested for
retirement. Older employees are terminated before they reach retirement so they do not
qualify for health insurance. henry ford hospital treats their employees like robots.

Maybe someone here could tell me where I could send my wife to hunt for another job. She has her BSN, completed course work in a law school as a legal nurse consultant, and is two courses away from completing her Master's in Nursing Leadership. Oh yes, she is also a NICU nurse - going on 25 years - and still at bedside. Yes, very proud of her.

Worked at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Great for those who want to work in the field of cardiology and orthopedics. Worked with a lot of the cardiologists in the Jefferson Heart Institute. Great doctors on staff. Trying to get into Roper St. Francis here in Charleston, SC --they even have pet insurance!
