Share your knowledge and experience as a volunteer at the University of Colorado Hospital at our Ninth and Colorado campus or our Fitzsimons campus (I-225 and Colfax).

Volunteers are important at University of Colorado Hospital because they provide the personal touch that enriches the hospital experience for patients, families, visitors and staff. Each year more than 250 volunteers provide more than 44,000 hours of service in more than 70 areas.

Volunteers assist hospital staff in some 60 different areas. Choose to work with patients, or decide that working with staff in non-patient activities is best for you.

Here is a sampling of positions open to volunteers: Help patients and their families Deliver meal trays Work in the infant hearing assessment program Assist physical therapy patients Deliver messages, flowers and mail Help staff on medical/surgical units Give children?s tours Do office or computer work Work in the gift shops

The days and time you volunteer are flexible. Openings are available weekdays, evenings and weekends. Typically we ask that you volunteer once a week for a minimum of three months; however other options are possible.

Harvest Farm – Denver Rescue Mission

Harvest Farm is a rural, long-term rehabilitation program utilizing counseling, education, work therapy and spiritual healing on a working farm to guide men out of the imprisonment of addiction. Harvest Farm is one mile North of Wellington, Co and is a branch of the Denver Rescue Mission.

The Denver Rescue Missions chief goal is to meet people at their physical and spiritual points of need. We provide food, shelter, and clothing, along with practical programs of education, Christian teaching, and work discipline with the aim of returning the poor, needy, and homeless to society as self-sufficient, productive citizens.

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp

Opportunities at Paul Newman?s Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for children with Chronic and Life Threatening Illnesses! 8-day volunteer opportunities are available at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, serving children with cancer, HIV, hemophilia, sickle cell and other genetic blood diseases. Licensed RNs and MDs can volunteer in our infirmary. Nurses are responsible for administering routine and PRN medications, monitoring camper and staff health, and providing urgent care. RN licensure and current CPR certification are required. One year of pediatric nursing experience and/or heme-onc experience preferred. Cabin counselor opportunities are available to students in related areas of study. Counselors are responsible for the daily routines of 8 campers. Responsibilities include accompanying kids to activities, encouraging them to participate, and general camp fun! All positions are residential. This is a fun and playful environment and a great place to gain experience for those people just entering the medical field or to enhance your current practice!

AmeriCares Free Clinics, Inc.

The AmeriCares Free Clinics provide primary care to uninsured Connecticut residents. Physicians in internal medicine, family practice, emergency medicine, and pediatrics are needed for three-hour sessions, usually every six to eight weeks, at clinics in Norwalk, Danbury, or Bridgeport. Specialists (particularly cardiologists, ophthalmologists, gastroenterologists, and orthopedists) in these com-munities are also needed to see clinic patients in their own offices pro bono on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis.

Energetic volunteers of all ages and skills are needed. Volunteers are generally asked to give a minimum of four hours a week for at least six months. There are many different volunteer roles to fit individual time schedules, abilities and interests. Volunteers may work directly with patients or choose work behind the scenes. Volunteer programs geared to the academic year and summer make it possible for students to serve the New Haven community by volunteering at the hospital. Students age 14 and above currently enrolled in a secondary school will earn valuable work experience and impact the lives of others through volunteer work at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
