Certified Nursing Assistant


Why It’s Great:
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) work under Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) helping to perform basic patient care functions such as feeding, bathing, and dressing. While certification isn’t always required, it is definitely a plus is the eyes of a potential employer. CNAs are one of the most in-demand jobs in the US. There is a projected need for almost 400,000 CNAs by 2016.

Where You Can Go:
Most CNAs aim to advance their careers by becoming LPNs or RNs. Other potential careers include medical assistant, physical or occupational therapy aide, or physician assistant.
