Medical Records and Health Information Technicians

This year, the healthcare industry saw a surge in electronic health records offered by everyone from Google to Microsoft. Many major hospitals have already paired off with these internet giants and have begun to maintain the majority of their records online. Because of this, medical records and health information technicians have seen tremendous growth over the last year.

Relevant Statistics

  • Projected Need: 76,000

    Projected Growth: 18-26%

    Median Wage: $14/hr

Employment is expected to grow faster than average, particularly for those technicians who are certified and/or have experience handling electronic health records. Those who are able to adapt quickly to the new system will have the greatest chance at getting hired or promoted.

Hello, my name is Vanessa Hill. i have recently relocated to KY from WA state where I worked as an RHIT/coder/biller. The CPC certification is more accepted than the RHIT here in this state. i have been searching for work, but it has been hard. I love the billing/analyzing/revenue part of the job that I did in WA. But the problem I have been having is these jobs call for BA in nursing, accounting or finance in analysing or revenue cycle. Any suggestions?

    Dear Sirs/Madams,
I have a Bachelore degree as hygienist-epidemiologist and Master degree in Public Health. Now I am working as project Coordinator in Tajikistan. But I would like to find a job in US, because I like USA. The high salary is not interested me. I like administrative and managerial work. I have one dependant - my 2,5 years old son. my husband is studying in US.
If there is something appropiate, please contact me: E-mail: nasrulloeva@yahoo.com
    Thanks, Moh

I would love to have more information about this field in the healthcare industry. I already have my degree in Medical Billing & Coding, am currently working on my degree in Medical Office Administration and plan on getting my Bachelor's in Medical IT.
