It seems obvious, but you should never eat anything pungent before an interview. As delicious as aromatics like garlic, shallots, leeks and onions are, they should be avoided for 24 hours before your big meeting. Would you eat garlic fries before you went on a date? You should treat your interviewer with the same level of courtesy.

If somebody walks into a room that smells like garlic, they won’t notice your nice outfit, they won’t notice your polished shoes, they won’t even notice your impressive resume — all they will notice is the overwhelming stench that you brought with you.
