#14 – Astrazeneca

This Delaware-based pharmaceutical company gives employees not only jobs but video rentals, massages, tennis and basketball courts. Oh – and did we mention on-site haircuts?

In 2007, AstraZeneca hired 84 new pharmaceutical sales specialists who came to the organization without traditional pharmaceutical/ sales medical experience. These hires included former nurses, nutritionists, pharmacy technicians, physical therapists and other healthcare-related providers. AstraZeneca also hired 37 recent college graduates into pharmaceutical sales specialist roles who had degrees in the sciences.

AstraZeneca also accepts recent graduates into its Research & Development organization each year. Typically these are pharmacy program graduates and associate scientists with general backgrounds. In addition, AstraZeneca hires nurses and physicians to support Phase 1 trials.

It’s growing at a rate of 5% new jobs. An equall percentage of jobs turned over last year, leaving a total of 1,100+ openings which attracted 133,000+ applicants.
