AHC's Hottest Health Employers

AllHealthCare

#1: Genentech

This Bay Area employer – a leading genetics research company – is head of the pack every year when it comes to unique benefits. Where else can you find company doggie daycare or an on-site farmers market? (Even Google doesn’t have these.) Genentech is considered the founder of the biotechnology industry, and has been developing biotherapeutics for 30 years. Genentech has been named one of Fortune Magazine’s Best Companies to Work For for ten consecutive years. They have also received the following recognition: Top Employer by Science Magazine, Best Company for Working Moms, America’s Most Admired Company, Barron’s “World’s Most Respected Companies,” among many others.

What’s best about Genentech, aside from its stock and its legendary record of medical discovery, is its growth rate: 9% or 871 new jobs were added last year. Add that to a voluntary turnover rate of 6% and that means there’s about 1,500 openings overall last year – and 251,296 applicants.

Sample Salaries
