Registered Nurse
Because nurses have so many specializations, there can be great variation in salary. While registered nurses can be licensed with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), only those with advanced degree can hold the title of Nurse Practitioner (NP). NPs typically have a Master of Science in Nursing and work as nurse managers, directors of nursing, or as physician-extenders in places like retail clinics and mobile health services.
One of the most in-demand careers in the entire US, registered nurses are projected to generate over 580,000 new jobs by 2016. This does not count the hundreds of thousands of jobs that will become available when older nurses retire. Those following the path toward becoming a registered nurse will find abundant job prospects and ample opportunities.
