Hiya guys,

This is my first time posting here.  Basically, I am an software developer in the IT industry and live in florida. Essentially, I am really tired of not being able to relocate out of this state so I am now thinking of getting into healthcare.  I know its huge in the state of florida. But, I am not sure how. I have like 8 years of IT experience but usually the Healthcare Industry uses very proprietary software that there is no way someone from outside could get in. So, I am not sure what to do. I think I like the healthcare administration track, however I am not certain what I can do to get in.

1. Some of the things I have been thinking is to just volunteer at the local hospital as I look for work in the IT field so i can pay my bills and study/volunteer.

2. another way could be to get trained as a medical administrative assistant (15/hr) and work on my masters

the problem with senario one is that a programmers life is very very busy. its like 50-60hrs on "good days". This makes life hard in terms of studying. although volunteering i could still do.

the problem with senario 2 is that I get paid like dirt. I am not sure how i will survive on that kind of cash. let alone pay for my school etc.

unless ofcourse i can get a job at a hospital where they can pay for my masters? perhaps I dunno much about that yet.

I am looking for some direction and guidance. heck i don't even know if i should do a masters in healthcare or m.b.a with a healthcare focus.

I will appreciate any help on this.

sincerely,

-khurram
