Disaster relief nursing allows licensed nurses to utilize their medical skills in the event of a disaster. For days, or even weeks, at a time, nurses help to care for the victims of disasters like Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, attacks like The World Trade Center bombing and 9/11, and the recent Midwest floods. Volunteer service is exhausting, rewarding, and potentially dangerous. For those up to the challenge, disaster relief nursing can be one of the best experiences of your career.
What Should Disaster Relief Nurses Expect?
• Deployments can last weeks at a time
• Living and working conditions may vary dramatically from what you are used to and they may only provide minimal protection from the elements
• Many impacted areas will be without electricity, air conditioning, and other comforts
• Work days will be long and stresful
• Volunteers must be in good physical shape and be able to work in a variety of environmental settings
• Volunteers should be able to handle strong emotions like shock, anger, and panic

I think that it is hard job to work in disaster relief as I have seen that there are many emergencies at that place.After reading this post I have learned that how can I involve in disaster relief and this will be useful for me.
